About ReFrame
Our lives are increasingly complex and so is our modern world. As a result, Christians often struggle to connect what they believe with what they do day by day. ReFrame addresses this challenge through a 10-week, film-based series that helps Christians connect faith with all of life; whether that be tending a garden, caring for children, pastoring a church, or negotiating a business deal.
ReFrame was originally developed by the Regent College Marketplace Institute and ran as a live course in Vancouver in 2010. Since then, ReFrame has run film pilots on three continents as well as hosted subsequent live courses in Vancouver. Efforts to develop a film version of the course began in 2013.
In 2013, The Marketplace Institute developed a partnership with The Washington Institute for Faith, Vocation, and Culture (TWI), an organization that had a vision for a similar resource. This has proven to be a highly effective collaboration, drawing on the world-class faculty of Regent College, and TWI’s pedagogy of apprenticeship. The output is a strong combination of Regent College’s graduate curriculum, with relevant examples, stories, questions, and exercises for engaging the complexity of our daily experience.
ReFrame draws on the experience of the disciples on the Emmaus road as recounted in Luke 24, and seeks similar transformation in the midst of real life. The course invites participants to encounter Jesus in their everyday circumstances, understand the meaning of Jesus’s life and work in the biblical story, and respond to Jesus in practical and creative ways. ReFrame is not simply an intellectual exercise. Its primary goal is to help Christians open their eyes to see Jesus in new ways and then be filled with joy and confidence to live every aspect of life fully for him.
